UPDATE
IN addition to Dr Jill Bolte Taylor's recount of her stroke experience, check out these other people's stories, compiled by the New York Times, about their recovery from a stroke.

I first came across TED through the NY Time health blog, Well, which featured an entry on Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, a neuroanatomist, who had the amazing opportunity to experience first-hand the effects of a stroke on her own brain. Her talk at TED was both fascinating and inspiring. It is a definite must-see for all those who have experienced a stroke and for all those who know someone who has been afflicted by a stroke. I've embedded the video below, so if you've got 18 minutes to spare it's time not wasted.
Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED) started out in 1984 organizing conferences that would bring together the world's thinkers and innovators to share their ideas and perspectives in 18 minutes. It's slogan is: "Ideas Worth Spreading" and it is worth it.
I've embedded some videos as a sampling of what TED offers: Dr Jill Bolte Taylor's "My Stroke of Insight", and 'mathemagician' Arthur Benjamin's mind-boggling rapid calculations.

The New York Times Sunday Newspaper on May 25 had a great two page article on Jill Bolte Taylor and her book, "MY STROKE OF INSIGHT". Her book is a must read and this NY Times article - called "A Superhighway to bliss" is worth checking out too.
